The city’s founding was in 1961, and it is known for its political culture. However, it also embraces performing arts and sports and it hosts different events over the year. Phoenix is home to a lot of music venues like the Phoenix Symphony Hall that hosts several great events including Ballet Arizona, Phoenix Symphony Orchestra performances and more. Orpheum Theatre, US Airways Center, Gammage Auditorium and many others are among these venues that host events in the city. The city has given a great number of famous musicians and musician groups such as Stevie Nicks, Wayne Newton, Jimmy Eat World, Sun City Girls, and the list goes long.

A lot of professional sports teams take Phoenix as their home including the NBA team Phoenix Suns, the IBL team Phoenix Flame, the NFL team Arizona Cardinals, the NHL team Phoenix Coyotes, and others. The city has hosted different hot sporting events including the Super Bowl XLII of 2008 that was won by the New York Giants. Also, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl is an event hosted in the city every year. And in 2015, Phoenix is expected to host the Super Bowl XLIX which is part of the BCS.

If you’re planning a visit to the city, here are some places that worth a bit of your time. The Musical Instrument Museum or the Heard Museum is a great choice. The latter for instance exhibits native culture of tribes and shows works of contemporary Native American artists. For some relax, take time to visit Papago Park or Piestewa Peak. And to enjoy some sports, you can get a ticket for Maryvale Baseball Stadium and go share some joyful moments with sports fans there.
